Closer than a Brother

"The intercession of the Holy Spirit for the saints in this present evil world
must be made through believers filled with the Holy Spirit....
Many blamed young converts for backsliding, but we blamed ourselves,
because we were not in a position to pray them through to victory.
Oh, the tragedy, to be helpless in front of the enemy,
when he was sifting young converts like wheat!
In Isaiah 59 we read that God saw there was no man,
and wondered that there was no intercessor, and this was just our case.
Many of us felt the need of being "endued with power from on high."

Closer than a Brother:

‘The man of many friends [a friend of all the world]
will prove himself a bad friend,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24 Amplified Bible

Some time ago I read about the Peanut’s creator, cartoonist Charles Schulz writing a brief quiz. It went something like this:
1- Name three Nobel Prize winners.
2- Name the three wealthiest people in the world.
3- Name this year's Heisman Trophy finalists.

Then he asked three more questions:
1- Name three teachers who affected your life.
2- Name three friends who stood by you.
3- Name three people you like to be around.

What was Charles Schulz's point?

Celebrities don't make the biggest impact on our lives—but the people closest to us, those who have personally invested in our lives do. The people you live and work with, who care about you, are an important part of the high calling of our daily work in Christ.

If you haven’t thought to do so lately, today would be a good day to thank some of those people, and more importantly to thank God for putting them in your life!

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel.
Proverbs 27:9

The ways of God are holy (completely unmatched).
What god is so great as our God?
