Intimacy Brings Purpose
Intimacy Brings Purpose
“The fear of the Lord
is not grasped by the mind,
but etched in our hearts.
It is revealed by the Holy Spirit
as we read His Word.”
John Bevere The Fear of the Lord
Page xvi
Intimacy Brings Purpose:
When we look to the Scriptural account of creation
we see that the Creator’s design for us was quite simple,
He desired intimate fellowship and communion with man.
All that man needed was to be met
in his intimate relationship with God.
For a time, man lived in complete harmony with God,
walking in the love and truth of God’s plan.
Man walked in complete purposefulness
of God’s creative purposes free of all fear or compromise.
This was then, and still is how God desires us to live –
walking in open intimate fellowship in an atmosphere
of total trust and dependence.
Our separation from God only comes
through the deception of the enemy the father of lies.
God did not choose to love Israel (nor us)
based upon any merit of our own,
or anything we might have done to deserve His affections.
His love is shed abroad because it is His very nature to love
and have fellowship with His creation.
“The Lord did not set His love upon you
and choose you because you were more in number
than any other people,
for you were the fewest of all people.”
Deuteronomy 7:7 Amplified Bible
Just as God chose to lead His chosen people in Deuteronomy Chapter 7
( which is worth the reading to get the whole picture),
He is likewise today leading in the same manner
those who are in Christ Jesus.
The “land” that is spoken of in Deuteronomy 7
is characterized by intimacy in relationship between God and man.
It is God’s continual desire to restore that relationship
in which mankind was first placed in the Garden of Eden.
God desires every faucet of our lives to be encapsulated in Him:
“[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory,
that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation
[of insight into mysteries and secrets]
in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light,
so that you can know and understand the hope
to which He has called you,
and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints
(His set-apart ones),
And [so that you can know and understand]
what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness
of His power in and for us who believe,
as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,
Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead
and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],
Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion
and every name that is named
[above every title that can be conferred],
not only in this age and in this world,
but also in the age and the world which are to come.
And He has put all things under His feet
and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],
Which is His body, the fullness of Him
Who fills all in all
[for in that body lives the full measure of Him
Who makes everything complete,
and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].
Ephesians 1:17-23 Amplified Bible
