Seven Things God Loves Part 2

Seven things God Loves:

Part 2 Living in Settled Confidence

“The task of every generation
is to discover the direction
in which the Sovereign Redeemer is moving,
then to move in that direction.”

Jonathan Edwards
as quoted by R.T. Kendall
The Sensitivity of the Spirit Page 36

In part 1 we looked at one of the things God loves which is a people who are presence led.
Another thing that God loves
is when His people live a life of settled confidence in Him.
The psalmist observes:
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.”
Psalm 147:5 NIV

This mindset needs to portray our life’s attitude; that we serve a Mighty God who is great in power and incomparable knowledge.

1. God’s Power, Wisdom and Love are without limits

Believers who are presence led and who live in settled confidence know that with God all things are possible no matter the circumstance.

2. With God all things are possible.

“And looking at them Jesus said to them,
‘With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’"

Matthew 19:26 NIV (my emphasis bold)

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purposes."
Romans 8:28 NIV

3. Believers who live in settled confidence have a heavenly perspective.
They are those who stand in their authority in Christ
to bring his heavenly kingdom to earth.
Such believers see themselves spiritually seated with Christ
and pray from the perspective of heaven… bringing heaven to earth.

“But because of his great love for us,
God, who is rich in mercy,
made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—
it is by grace you have been saved.
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him
in the heavenly realms
in Christ Jesus,”
Ephesians 2:4-6 NIV (my emphasis bold)

4. Believers who live in settled confidence
seek the kind of faith that fills God’s heart,
and desire that it will overflow in them
.
They desire the faith of God above faith in God.

“In the morning, as they went along,
they saw the fig-tree withered from the roots.
Peter remembered and said to Jesus, Rabbi, look!
The fig-tree you cursed has withered!
Have faith in God, Jesus answered.
I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain,
'Go, throw yourself into the sea,'
and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer,
believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
Mark 11:20-24 NIV (my emphasis bold)

5. When we are living in settled confidence
we will follow after the works of our Lord
desiring to see His mega-works demonstrated through us.

"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me
will do what I have been doing.
He will do even greater things than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And I will do whatever you ask in my name,
so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

John 14:12-14 NIV (my emphasis bold)

6. Believers who live in settled confidence
live naturally supernatural lives

by the might and power of the Holy Spirit.

“I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth.”
Joel 2:28-30a NIV

“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants
to speak your word with great boldness.
Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 2:29-30 NIV

“This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:
'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,'
says the LORD Almighty.”
Zechariah 4:6 NIV

7. Believers who live in settled confidence
earnestly desire the heart of God
to be revealed to the world through them.
They desire that the abundance of God’s nature
will enable them to be a light in the darkness.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

“To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom,
to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,
and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
and he gives them to each one, just as he determines."
1 Corinthians 12:8-11 NIV

May you be presence led and live in settled confidence of God…
